Kickstart Vacancy

The government’s Kickstart Scheme funds the direct creation of high quality jobs for young people at the highest risk of long-term unemployment. It will give young people the chance to build their confidence and skills in the workplace, and to gain experience that will improve their chances of going on to find long-term, sustainable work.

Who can apply for a Kickstart job placement?

The Kickstart Scheme is open to young people who are:

  • aged 16-24
  • currently on Universal Credit
  • and at risk of long-term unemployment

Falmouth Harbour is offering a Kickstart placement for a well organised Customer Care Assistant to support the Falmouth Haven leisure services team with maintaining a welcoming and customer focussed reception and handling customer queries, developing merchandise sales, maintaining waiting lists, market research, social media, processing payments and other administration tasks in our busy reception and offices.

Work Experience

We do offer work experience placements for secondary school children interested in developing a career in the marine sector within an area relevant to our activities. We have limited resources so to ensure you get the most out of your work experience placement we select candidates based on their areas interest and what we think we can offer in this respect.

In order to learn more about you to ensure that we can offer you a suitable placement we ask for a letter / email from you along with your CV applying for the work experience placement. The sort of things we would like to see addressed are as follows:

  • Why you wish to complete your work experience at Falmouth Harbour Commissioners in particular including what you think you would gain from a placement with us;
  • What your current interests and goals are both personally and career wise;
  • What you feel you can bring to Falmouth Harbour Commissioners.
