Assistant Harbour Master Lloyd Pond has written a book to commemorate 150 years of Falmouth Harbour Commissioners.
The book highlights the many changes over time as ships changed from sail to steam and the facilities that they required from a harbour evolved accordingly. It explains the further evolution that occurred as the size of ships increased and the role of the inner Harbour changed to one of mainly providing facilities for recreational craft. Contained in its pages are stories of some of the people who served this Organisation and some of the things that they did that helped to steer it into its modern form. It also contains stories of many others, famous and notorious who encountered this Organisation as it interacted with their own unusual histories.
The book is available from the harbour office reception at £14 or £16.50 if it is to be sent by post
